Sexual Health Consultation Birmingham

We offer a discreet, private consultation service for men and women who may be experiencing sexual health issues.

You may like to discuss causes and treatment for sexual dysfunction such as erectile disorder or premature ejaculation, or vaginal dryness and low libido. Where appropriate, you will be given a check-up and a blood test may be taken. Results are obtained quickly, and our practitioners can advise on a potential treatment plan or provide a private prescription where necessary.

We offer testing for HIV, Hep B and other STIs and STDs, which includes rapid testing on-site. More comprehensive and specialist testing can be arranged through our private clinical partners Better2Know.

Your results and any information remain confidential, and you do not have to disclose details to your GP if you prefer not to.

It is recommended you have a check-up every year to ensure you haven’t got an STI. However, you may need to have a sexual health check-up more often for various different reasons. This includes:

  • If you have casual sex, you should have a sexual health check-up at least every six months.
  • If you have multiple partners, it is a good idea to get tested every three months.
  • Before you start a new relationship, especially if you are considering unprotected sex.
  • If you notice any symptoms such as sores, discharge or a rash. You should get tested as soon as possible if you think you have an STI.

STIs are tested using various methods depending on the type of infection. Common tests include:

    • Blood tests: Used to detect infections such as HIV, syphilis and hepatitis. HIV will be detected as early as 45 days after exposure.
    • Urine tests: Often used to check for chlamydia and gonorrhoea.
  • Swabs: Sometimes used to check for chlamydia and gonorrhoea.
  • Physical examination: A healthcare provider may check for visible signs of infection, such as sores.

Your treatment will depend on the type of STI you have:

  • Bacterial infection: STIs such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis are typically treated with antibiotics.
  • Viral infections: STIs such as herpes and HIV are managed with antiviral medication. This helps control symptoms and reduce transmission risk.

It is important to complete your full course of treatment. As well as this, you should inform any sexual partner so they can also get tested and treated.

Yes, your sexual health information will be kept confidential. Any of your personal details or information about tests and treatments will not be shared outside of the sexual health service. This includes your GP.

However, there are some occasions where it may be reported to the UKHSA. All of your details will be kept confidential and the information shared will not contain anything that directly identifies you.

Also, if the sexual health service is concerned about your safety they will share the information with the relevant people. They will discuss this with you first and only share information to keep you safe.

I went into Oakley today for my first Hayfever injection I was very nervous, On arrival Sian (nurse) and the ladies at reception greater me with a smile. Sian took me straight in, she made me feel at ease right away, and answered all of my questions. I will definitely be recommending family and friends here.
