What Does a Private Health Screening Include?

If you have no specific concerns and are looking for a private health screening in Birmingham, you can choose from our options below.

Level 2 Health Screening

A thorough screening covering key health markers including blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, kidney and liver function, full blood count and thyroid levels. Includes a follow-up consultation with our GP to discuss your results and recommend next steps.

– Prices from £405

Level 3 Health Screening

A more comprehensive screening that includes all Level 2 tests plus additional panels to give a fuller picture of your health. This is suited to patients who want a more detailed assessment, have a family history of illness or have specific symptoms you want investigated.

– Prices from £555

You’ll come into our practice for blood and urine samples, which will be sent to our lab for analysis. A comprehensive “traffic light” Green, Amber, Red style report is then provided for you, which is discussed at a follow-up consultation with our Doctor, who will be able to advise on a course of action or treatment if required.

How it works:

The initial appointment is with our Nurse. She will take your personal health measurements and collect blood and urine samples from you. You will need to

  • Fast for at least 6 hours before your appointment (water only).
  • Not undertake vigorous physical exercise for 48 hours before your appointment.

A follow-up appointment with our Doctor is arranged once your report is ready, usually within 7-10 days.

Feeling tired all the time can be a sign of several underlying conditions, including thyroid problems, low iron, vitamin deficiencies or blood sugar imbalances. A private health screening at our Birmingham GP practice looks at the markers most commonly linked to fatigue, so you can find out what is causing it rather than just managing your symptoms.

Our private health screening includes blood tests that check iron levels, thyroid function, vitamin D and blood sugar. If your results point to an underlying cause, our GP will explain what it means and what to do next.

Find Out What’s Causing Your Fatigue

Sometimes you want reassurance about your health. Booking in an annual health screening at our Birmingham GP practice gives you a clear picture of your current health status, such as heart health, cholesterol, blood pressure and organ function.

Many of our patients book a health screening simply for reassurance, especially if they have not had a full check for some time. You will receive a written report and a follow-up appointment to talk through your results with our GP.

If a close relative has had a condition such as heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol or certain cancers, you may be at higher risk yourself. A private health screening in Birmingham can detect early warning signs or deficiencies, giving you time to make changes or start treatment sooner.

During your consultation, tell our GP about any relevant family history. This helps them decide which tests are most useful for you and how often you should have follow-up screenings.

Check Your Risk With a Private Health Screening

Preventative healthcare means catching potential problems early, rather than waiting until your symptoms become serious. Regular health screenings help you monitor your health over time and spot changes before they become a bigger issue.

Our well person health screening is suitable for anyone who wants to take a proactive approach to their health, whether you have specific concerns or simply want to stay on top of your wellbeing. We recommend an annual screening as a starting point, with more frequent checks if your GP advises it based on your age, lifestyle or health history.

Well-Person Health Screenings alert you to potential health issues you have developed or are predisposed to before the symptoms begin. They allow you to intervene early and offer vital information regarding your overall health status. A Well-Person Health Screening will provide invaluable knowledge if you have a family history of particular conditions or unusual symptoms you can’t identify.

You may need to fast up to 10 hours before particular tests during your Well-Person Health Screening. Fasting ensures your blood glucose and cholesterol tests display your normal levels rather than those influenced by food and drink. It’s also helpful to bring a list of medications you’re taking and evidence of your health history. You should also wear comfortable clothes that you can easily pull up.

We aim to complete your report within a few weeks of your appointment to ease your anxiety and make any necessary steps as soon as possible. You’ll have a follow-up consultation with your practitioner, who will explain the results of your tests and answer any questions you have. They will also detail treatment courses and recommend lifestyle changes if applicable.

The recommended frequency of Well-Person Health Screenings depends on age, sex, susceptibility to particular conditions, and existing health issues. The older you become, the more often you should have a screening due to the increased likelihood of developing health concerns. As a basis, we recommend you have one screening annually to keep on top of your health status and ensure early detection of changes.
