Confidential Sexual Health Screenings
We offer a discreet, private consultation service for men and women who may be experiencing sexual health issues at our private clinic in Birmingham.
You may like to discuss causes and treatment for sexual dysfunction such as erectile disorder or premature ejaculation, or vaginal dryness and low libido. Where appropriate, you will be given a check-up and a blood test may be taken. Results are obtained quickly, and our practitioners can advise on a potential treatment plan or provide a private prescription where necessary.
We offer testing for HIV, Hep B and other STIs and STDs, which includes rapid testing on-site. More comprehensive and specialist testing can be arranged through our private clinical partners Better2Know.
Your results and any information remain confidential, and you do not have to disclose details to your GP if you prefer not to.

Get Your Allergy Testing & Clear Answers
If you are concerned you may be experiencing allergic reactions, you can arrange for a consultation with the doctor and a blood test where appropriate. These are offered to adults and children over 12 years of age.
Typically, allergies to food groups, animal dander, insect bites and antibiotics are commonly identified, and the results are usually available within seven days.
If you’re struggling with unexplained symptoms, find out if allergies are the cause and make use of our private allergy testing services. Allergy testing and associated costs may vary, so please get in touch with us for further information or to make an appointment.

Cervical screening
Private cervical screening by a female clinician
We provide private cervical screening appointments to offer you peace of mind. You can choose from a number of days and times to suit you, and you will be seen by a female practitioner.
If you are a little nervous, please tell us, as we are more than happy to discuss any fears or anxieties you may have.
We know how age, childbirth and menopause can define your changing needs, so we use the latest, lightweight, disposable instruments, which are sized to suit your requirements.
Private HPV Screening
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common virus transmitted through sexual contact. High Risk sub-types of HPV (HRHPV) are linked to the development of abnormal cells and can cause cervical cancer. HPV is a necessary cause of invasive cervical cancer. Evidence shows HPV testing is a more effective way to identify women at risk of cervical cancer than by screening microscopically for abnormal cells from a PAP test.
In 2017, the UK NHSCSP recommended that testing for HPV should replace cytology as the first (primary test) in cervical screening. Consequently, our regular cervical screening tests are for HPV only.
If your HPV screening is positive or identifies abnormalities, our lab will automatically run a PAPT screening.
Your results will typically be back from our labs within 7-10 working days, and you will be informed of the results straight away. Over 90% of results are clear, and in the event of a positive test, we will advise on your next steps.

TB testing (Quantiferon)
Concerned about TB exposure?
We offer two tests for TB before administering a TB vaccination to patients over the age of 6.
The Mantoux skin test is performed by injecting a small amount of fluid (called tuberculin) into the skin on the lower part of the arm. A person given the tuberculin skin test must return within 48 to 72 hours to have a trained healthcare worker look for a reaction on the arm. It is then determined if the TB vaccination can be given or if the patient should have further tests or be treated for potential latent TB infection.
The QuantiFERON-TB blood test is a simple test that helps to detect the mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria that causes tuberculosis. It is usually recommended if you are at risk for progression of latent TB to active TB or if you are suspected of having active TB.
If the test is positive, you have a latent TB infection, but usually not the active disease. At this stage, however, you can be treated to prevent further development into active TB.
If test results are negative, the patient can be administered the TB vaccination. If you’ve recently travelled, been asked for TB clearance for work or study, or simply want peace of mind, our private TB testing service in Birmingham provides accurate results with minimal hassle.
Group B Strep testing
The Enriched Culture Medium (ECM)
Carrying Group B Strep has no symptoms, and whilst most babies born to women who carry the infection will not become infected, for those who may, it can be very serious. New-born babies are most vulnerable to infection, which can lead to septicaemia, pneumonia and meningitis.
Though the NHS screens with an ‘all purpose’ test, an additional test – the Enriched Culture Medium (ECM) test – is available to women who are 35 weeks pregnant.
The ECM test is recognised as the gold standard test for Group B Strep carriage, but it is not commonly available within the NHS.
Although a home test is available, you may prefer the swabs to be taken by a qualified nurse here at our practice. This will ensure a greater degree of accuracy when the samples are obtained. We send the swabs to the lab to be processed on your behalf. We will contact you with your results and discuss your next steps should you require preventative action at the onset of labour.
Knowing your Group B Strep status can make a big difference during pregnancy. Our ECM test offers fast, reliable results to help you and your midwife plan with confidence and ensure your baby’s safety.
